ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successfully complete insurance verifications to deliver the premier customer experience Responsible for validating and entering patient information and insurance coverage into the appropriate computer system. Duties may also include communicating with centers, insurance carriers, and patient follow-ups.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and thorough documentation regarding verification and customer account activity; this includes insurance authorization/pre-cert notes and task notes for any pending verifications.
  • Verify the customer's hearing benefits and coverage levels to make sure the services and procedures required are covered by the insurance carrier. Responsible for handling outbound/inbound calls regarding eligibility or authorization.
  • Foster communication between verification team and centers to help improve workflow and quickly resolve any issues.
  • Responsible for contacting customers when documentation received does not meet payer guidelines to obtain verification.
  • Any other job duties assigned by Management/Supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 - 3 years prior medical office or healthcare setting with insurance verification experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Commercial, Government, Workers Compensation, and medical insurance.
  • Knowledge of verification of benefits and coordination of benefit processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, referrals and pre-certification procedures, as well as documentation guidelines.
  • Must be articulate, professional, and have excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Multi-tasking skills are essential.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment to meet daily. performance targets for work volume and quality requirements.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in compliance with HIPAA regulations and safeguard personal information.
  • Understands how to research and work closely with insurance carriers for reimbursement requirements.
  • Understand and work with clearinghouse and electronic claim interchange.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a big plus, but not required.
  • Associates Degree and/or Certification in Medical Billing is strongly preferred.
  • Moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. 
  • Familiarity with medical billing systems and ability to learn new computer billing software programs.
  • Ability to process high volume data entry and to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy - Ability to work quickly, accurately and independently in a fast paced environment.
  • Basic or advanced written communication skills – Experience interacting with customers/clients.
